Allego Bus or Phaeton
Today I went to the RV show here in San Diego and looked at several coaches and after a while, I forgot what the 4 one looked like. :-)
Have a gas rig now, but am thinking about moving into DP. When I bought my present coach, seems like everyone was talking me out of the DP. People were saying unless you plan on putting 8K in miles a year, don't spend the extra money because DP like to be driven.
I drove a 2016 40AP today and being this was the first DP I ever drove, just blew me away in a good way.
My question being, what is the main different in the ALG Bus vs the Phaeton?
This would be a major upgrade for us and if it takes me 3-4 months to decide, so be it. $109,000 for our last coach but spending 300K is another thing.
DW and I was talking tonight and also looking at used and I guess there is something to be said for used. If there were any problems or bugs, HOPEFULLY they have been fixed. Where a new one, we all know that there well be somethings that will need to be fixed or repaired.
Sorry for the long thread but would like to here some advise or thoughts.
Thanks for your time.

Bus vs. Phaeton
Bigger engine
Side radiator
Independent front suspension
Aqua Hot standard (I think)
Others can chime in with other differences...
We have a Phaeton. Great coach. Would rather a Bus? Sure, but not cost justified for us. YMMV.

The big thing for me is the side radiator because I do all my own service work and the bus has that, some say no big deal but to me time is money. I like to see the motor when I get to my location plus the bus is a heavier coach better ride.

"don't spend the extra money because DP like to be driven."
A DP is an inanimate object. It doesn't care if it is driven or not. You now know what it is like to drive DP so now it is a matter of how many bells and whistles you want to pay for when deciding between a Bus or a Phaeton

That might be true for some, but not really ours! Too much stuff like tanks in the way although I can change belts easily and maybe the alternator.

If you go with a bus, you will spend a lot of money for 70 hp, a side radiator, independent front suspension, and an upgraded interior. So it like getting a nice home in a nice neighborhood vs. getting the same house, with a pool, with better landscaping, in a more prestigious neighborhood.
The Phaeton is Tiffins largest selling model and you get a lot of value for your buck. I would pick a Phaeton again if I was buying another one.

Looking at the comparison now.
Sorry but I don't know what this is?
DEF Tank† (Gallons): 13 (except on 44 OH: 15)

DEF is the Diesel Exhaust Fluid that's required to treat the exhaust on all newer diesel engines. The two gallon difference wouldn't be a big deal for most folks. We run to Alaska every 2 years (11,500 mi) and it matters to us but I put in an extra 15 gal tank for the long runs north.
We're on our second NEW Bus. We went with the Bus to get a few more bells and whistles and the more HP and are pleased. Just a question on how many ribbons you want.

And an compression release engine brake, frequently called a Jake brake. Not to be confused with an exhaust brake.

IF it were me I would buy used from a private party who is anal about maintenance and caring for their Rig. Yes, there are people out there, you just have to find them. The Bus has more options for a price. We have been very happy with our Phaeton, lots of things were done to make me comfortable and happy though.

We purchased a 2008 Phaeton 36QHS in 2014 and it was like a brand new one...maintenance records and receipts included. We looked for almost a year and so glad we waited. The price difference was amazing...love my Phaeton!
