Allegro Bus

Why do they call it a bus? It can't be because it has a tag axle, and the chassis is the same as a phaeton. It can be because of the length, because they don't call a Zephyr a bus. Any ideas? Is there something I'm missing?

Good question.
Started as a "pusher" hence the Bus...as buses are pushers. Was 1st diesel pusher Class A built. Allegro is another story.

Allegro Bus is a trademarked name given to the then top of the line Tiffin back in the 90's. The Allegro name is also used with the Allegro Open Road and the Allegro RED (Rear Engine Diesel). There was also a model called the Allegro Bay for a few years.

Everybody knows that.......but why was Allegro the name picked by BoB Tiffin in the first place ?
And the Allegro Bay was both a gasser and a diesel over the years. And actually it was 1981.

I remember reading that it was Bob's wife that suggested that name when he first started building coaches. Seems there was something about the musical definition, which is "explained" by this statement I copied from Wikipedia:

"There are many Italian musical terms that describe or direct the tempo, or speed, of the music, and allegro is one of these. The word means "cheerful or gay" in Italian from the Latin root alacrem, "lively, cheerful, or brisk."

So my memory is not what it used to be but we went on the Tiffin tour a few months back and if memory serves me right they wanted a name that would come up first in alphabetical order. I can't remember who came up with Allegro, I do believe it was his wife, nor do I remember what it stands for.

After I read my own message, I realize I have contributed nothing to the discussion.
