I stopped at the local truck stop today to fill the fuel tank and decided to weigh the rig while I was there. I thought other owners might be similiar in seeing the axle weights so here are the numbers.

The weight was taken with full water and fuel tanks. The black tank was about 1/3 full and grey tank was empty. I was in the rig by myself at the time it was weighed.

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Front Axle = 13,980
Drive Axle = 15,800
Tag Axle = 7,800

Total Weight = 37,580[/list]
The tag and rear axle both are at about 75% of their rated capacity, but the front axle is nearing it's rated capacity. Clearly, it was important this year for Tiffin to increase the tire size which increased the front axle capacity.

It looks like the tag and drive are set up exactly to 1/3 - 2/3 with exactly 2/3 of the rear weight being carried by the drive axle.

I'll look for the first opportunity to give the rig a 4-corner weighing at the first opportunity I get. I'll also weigh it with our normal 5 passengers as that will put the rig right around 38,000 pounds.

Mike,

The rig was fully loaded with everything we would ever carry. We're a family of 5 so we tend to pack a lot of stuff. I also tend to carry a lot of heavy items such as tools and spare parts.

I really wasn't surprized at the weight as I knew that the 42 foot busses were aproaching 14,000 on the front end. Since the 43 has a 1 foot longer wheelbase, it goes without saying that the front end has to have more weight.

One good thing is that the 295 front tires on the rig are actually rated to carry 15,660 lbs at 120 PSI. The 14,600 lb rating is at 110 PSI, but I'll continue to run at 120 at least until I get individual wheel weights. The front axle weight rating is 14,600, but I feel better that the tires aren't the limiting factor.

Almost I got off cheap today in that I just topped it off to weigh the rig. Still, almost $ 250 bucks for a top off hurts
