Allegro Bus odometer

My odometer has gone crazy. It now says I have over 10 million miles on the coach and should be a little over 28000 according to my service records.

Your best option is to replace the speedometer assembly, which is a pricey part. Ours went wacky about 40k miles ago showing over 200,000 miles when it was actually only about 22k. The new speedometer will pull the actual mileage from the ECM. You might also contact Tiffin as they may be able to reprogram your speedometer to reset the mileage.

My odometer was missing a pixel when we purchased it, so we were unsure of the correct mileage.

Last Summer, I decided to see about replacing it and found out it was like a $400 part and I couldn’t even find one to order. Some companies said they had them, but turned around and canceled my order when they realized that they didn’t have them.

I eventually gambled on a used one off of eBay for $75. So far, it’s been working great and keeps correct track of our mileage.

Ditto what Lt Dan said. Mine dropped about 40k miles. Should have kept it but could never do that to a future owner. Ordered a replacement from tiffin for about $500, I think. In any case actual miles popped right back in as soon as I replaced.

The speedometers are now close to $600. If you have a 2014 it will need to be programmed by Tiffin. I verified this when purchasing for my 2018. The need for programming is the reason it can not be ordered on line since they need to know what year.

funny right - you have to buy a new one AND they have to program it to the correct mileage. Why on earth can't they program the existing one to the correct mileage. Must have something to do with profit margins?????

In any case, it seems more economical to get something like BlueFire and read the milage from the ECM which does not seem to suffer from software problems that have exists in the speedo for years....

ekim: You have hit the NAIL right on the head. Price for a new one is $620, for a $20 part. They are made by Medallion which is located in Michigan

Freightliner Service

Hi folks,
I purchased a 2017 Allegro Red in Feb 24. I had a problem with the odometer. It showed 450 miles when the actual was 18K. I had the coach fully serviced at Freightliner in Gafney SC. They re flashed the unit and fixed the problem. It was fairly reasonable { about $100 I think} I don't have my coach at this time or I could check the invoice. A quick call to Freightliner

and I am sure they can price this for you.
I was pleasantly surprised as I expected the odometer repair to be $$$
Regards

Pete V

OP does not have Freightliner. Should be a Powerglide on a bus.
