Allegro Open Road

Possible purchase of a 2008 Tiffin Open Road 34 TGA. MH is very low mileage and looks to be in excellent condition. It is equipped with the FRED 300 diesel engine with Allison tranny. Would appreciate any comments for FRED owners. Is this a 6 spd Allison? Can't find a brochure for this MH. Tiffin site does not show a brochure for a 2008 Open Road. Is this a pre DEF Cummins? Thanks for your help.

Pre Def (2010 is when Def started)
More than likely a 5 speed transmission.

Have you seen it? Every 2008 Tiffin Open Road 34 TGA I see is a V10.

We had a 2008 340hp FRED. The 2008 34TGA was offered on Freightliner FRED, Ford and Workhorse chassis.
The 340 was rare (300hp was standard) and ours did have the 6 speed. I think the 5 speed was standard with the 300.
The 34TGA floorplan is absolutely my favorite for that size motorhome. The downside was no fan or cross ventilation in the bedroom.
Enjoy!

Very Low Mileage, be sure to get it inspected. If it is very very low is it a storage queen? Things don't work if stored too long.

Not sure why very low mileage is a big selling point Id rather have one that has normal milage on it

I agree when it comes to the drivetrain, but more mileage also likely means more wear and tear on the house side. But I agree. Even if the miles were normal or maybe even high on a diesel, if the interior is what I want, then I wouldn't let the mileage get in my way as long as there are no issues with the drivetrain.
