Another silly newbe question

Never had a motorhome before but have had trailers for 25 years. And the number of really basic questions we can come up with is scary.
Tiffin 08 bus. Batteries and more batteries...
Can we assume that the battery bank closes to the engine is the chasse battieries? They seem to be in a sealed box. The ones closest to mid-ship the house ones? They are both on the driver side.
We are looking to see if they have water... but apparently, the chasse batteries are sealed in a black box and the house are sealed batteries. Will confirm this again, but that's what it looks like.
Prior owners addition.. I assume..

The batteries closest to the engine are AGM sealed batteries and require no maintenance, they are the batteries that start the engine.

The batteries closest to the driver's seat are lead-acid batteries and supply 12 volt power to the coach. They need maintenance on a regular basis. Check the water level and add distilled water when needed.

The ones closet to the engine are in a black metal box... Which indicates they don't need to be maintained.

The other ones are in the same compartment which has all the marked "chasse" labels on cables and a junction box.. hence the confusion.
But these batteries are easy to get to...So, i'm going with these being the house batteries.
