Aquahot Not Working

We just purchased our 2011 Tiffin Phaeton 40 QTH. During our first trip, we discovered that we have no hot water. Propane is on, water heater switch is on, valve in basement is set to normal flow. We got a limited amount of hot water for a few minutes, then it went cold. I cant yet find the Aquahot unit. Any tips or ideas greatly appreciated.

Look for the exhaust pipe slightly past mid coach on street side of coach. It should be in the compartment above the exhaust pipe. Check for the low voltage reset and using a small pointed tool, push in and reset the switch.

If you have a propane coach you do not have AquaHot. You should have a separate hot water heater. 2016 was the first year for AquaHot option in a Phaeton. From what you describe it sounds like the electric heating element in your hot water heater is working but the gas burner isn’t firing up. Is your propane tank empty? Does your cooktop work? It is most likely a failed gas valve on the water heater. Easy to fix.

Agree with Zombiewolf you do most likely have a stand alone water heater pending the year model. You should see the cover for the water heater on your sidewall. Give us a call, there are several questions we can ask to try to help you. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi There, yes it’s a PrecisionTemp RV500 on-demand propane fired heater. The igniter looks like it’s completely rusted. There is a red led flashing every four seconds, but I can’t identify what that means. Water is flowing but I hear no ignition. A replacement unit is about $3k, but they are out of stock. I’m going to see if I can at least replace the igniter.

The first thing you need to do is download the manual for your unit so you know what the flashing light code is. Youll also get a good idea of how your unit functions and the various service parts.

If you have to replace it I recommend looking into a Truma unit instead. It should be a drop in replacement for your current unit. Truma is a highly rated on-demand hot water heater used in the RV industry. It is what Tiffin has been using for years now.

Do you have a propane water heater or an AquaHot. The AquaHot runs on Diesel or electric. Is the heat in the coach working? There are a number of things needed for it to make domestic hot water.
