Assistance in locating the J1939 port for my ScanGuage
I just received my new ScanGauge and thought it would be snap to plug it in the J1939 port in my 2018 Tiffin Phaeton 40IH MH. But alas, I can't locate the port on the left side of the driver side dash. Does anyone have a photo of the location of this port and what it might look like with the cover on? Any images might give me a visual that will help me locate it. Also if anyone has installed one, did they need to remove any dashboard cowling to gain access to the port? Even if you have a different year Tiffin, any images you have might still help me. TIA

Lower left of your steering below the dash. Or the easiest one is back in the engine compartment. Mines on top right

Yours will be the same as mine. Under the dash, left of the steering wheel attached to a metal bracket. The port will be a light green color with a screw off cover like below. Just for diagnostics, you also have another port inside the rear hatch above the radiator.

Still can't find it.
LT,
For the life me, I can't find it. I've spent a lot of time down there looking and I can find nothing resembling your image. But before I call Tiffin to see if there's been a change, could I ask you two more things:
1) Another image from further away might provide me more context as to the proximity to the steering column and dash.
2) Do I need to remove any cowling (i.e. dash board plastic or black plastic cowling around the steering column) in order to see the green port? Or should it just be visible without removing anything?
Thanks!

I have a different coach, but Freightliner and mine is sort of above the steering column shaft, not down on the bottom of the dash like cars. I don't know if your coach builder locates the port or if the chassis builder mounts it.

It should be visible without removing any panels or cowling. It may be hidden behind the bundle of wiring looms that is under the dash. I'm not at the coach so I can't take another photo, that was one I just had in file. Keep in mind that it will be covered with a plastic cap that's about 1-1/2" in diameter and may be black or green.
EDIT: Managed to swing by the coach and take a quick photo. It's mounted on a black metal bracket that I think is attached to the firewall and was originally behind a bunch of wires. It has the Scangauge plugged into it so all you can see is a small portion of the port.

It's down there somewhere. Mine was actually attached to a kick panel by the drivers left foot. Remember, every TMH coach is "custom".
