Basement Door Repair

On one of my basement doors, the bracket that mounts to the inside of the basement door holding the gas strut has come off. It appears that the 3 self drilling screws stripped out the holes. I want to re install the bracket.

Without stating the obvious of just moving the bracket placement to a new location so the new holes are not in the same location of the old holes, does anyone have any other suggestions on putting back the bracket or a fix?

Thank you

Either bigger diameter screws or screw anchors. There are a lot of different screw anchor configurations on Amazon

Make a 1/8" thick plate to mount to the inside of the basement door, over the holes, maybe 3" x 5". Drill several (6-8) holes in it to mount it to the basement door. Drill three more in it for the gas strut mount and tap them for machine screws (maybe 10-32) where the screw holes are in the basement door.
