Bathroom door issue

I have a 2012 Allegro 32CA that has a 26" bathroom door that opens out into a 24" hallway. Therefore the door can't be opened all the way and when you try....it hits the shower door across the hallway. Has anyone else run across this? And if so, have you tried to replace the door with a smaller door or how did you handle it? Seems like such a stupid design flaw! Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

There was a time when one could open and hitch that door so that it created a dressing room after you stepped out of the shower... isolating the shower/ed/er from the kitchen and living room! Given the glass shower surround!

Yeah, I had an RV that did exactly what you talked about. However, this door just swings out to the point of being approx. 85% open and comes up against the shower door and surrounding trim. There's a pocket door coming from both the bedroom and the living room areas to close off the area for the person showering. It's just something that makes you stop and scratch your head as to the engineering behind the way they did this. Figured someone may have run across it before and came up with a solution.

Yep them buckets of bolts designers and assemblers have the worse design acumen and quality of assembly as well. There is no feedback from the assembly line of the sales folks to make the designs better. But on the plus side you have 85 percent coverage in one direction as a redundancy! Hmm that statement brings to mind the railroad announcement across the pond in the land of titular royal family.... Caution mind the gap xxxx! Trying to keep people from stepping into the abyss!

I know all this don't help matters much, but perhaps a gentle spring hinge or storm door type set up will kinda close the door without letting it bang into the other side!

I took the door off and put an accordion door on, works perfect. Found one on E Bay that is a perfect color match. Saved the door in case the next owner wants it. Dumb design.

Yeah that's a user interface fail for sure.

In the bus, the throne room door isn't quite wide enough to close off the passageway, so they have pocket doors on either side of the passageway to close off the athwartships head. Which is a solution, albeit an expensive one.

When I redid the bathroom on my old 32BA, I had to replace the throne room wall. Which was easy enough, it's just framed up in 1x2 pine. Could have had a custom door built, that would latch into the far wall when open. Only problem is, Her Majesty does not prefer to shower in full view of me doing my business, so that solves one problem and introduces another.

They solved that problem in the bus by putting in pocket doors on either side of the passageway, which works great but would be an expensive fix.

I was kicking around the idea of hanging a shoji door I could slide across the passageway, which would have been dang cool, but wound up hanging a curtain (actually a noren cuz I was kind of on a zen kick at the time) which was fine, I mean really you don't need to seal it off, just need to not freak out the people walking past the front of your rig, right?

Thanks for the comebacks! I had actually thought of doing what cseidel has suggested and now I'm looking harder at that solution. The alternative is to just remove the door as we already have the pocket doors mentioned by TampaDave. That actually would be the simplest solution to the whole thing. Again, Thanks for the suggestions!
