bedroom electric slide issues
I have a 2013 Tiffin Allegro red 34QFA.
I have replaced the bedroom slide rollers and have had the motor looked at but am still having issues with the slide going out! coming in is no problem but going out, the slide needs to have someone push on the bed to help it out and it is getting worse.
Has anyone had this problem?

Need more information. Do you have engine running when operating the slides?
Does the slide stop or just go out slowly?
What is the make of the slide?

Yes, motor running or not the slide barely goes out but seems to have no problem coming in. Not sure who manufactured the slide. The only thing I can see is the slide topper might be restricting it. I will see if I can disconnect it

Guessing it's a Schwintek? Could be any number of issues. If it is binding, the motors could be out of sync. If you search the forums you will find many posts on the method to sync them. I had to do a Vroom replacement on one of my larger slides after multiple attempts to get it corrected. I was at my wits end and didn't want to have to worry about the slide being stuck while on a long trip.

That’s a possibility if the topper is set too tight or it’s binding.
Also try a reset if it’s a schwintek slide.

it is a schwintek slide with just one motor - so no syncing. thought at first it was the motor but it just reverses from in to out. if it was the motor it should have a problem both ways.

So this is a slide with no gear tracks along the side of the slide box but a single motor under the bed?
When it closes, are both sides even coming in , same extending?

If the slide comes in normally, all the slide seals should be flipped over to the inside and easily glide along the outsides of the slide as it moves in. If those seals don't flip over to the outside when the slide is extended, they could sort of bite into the slide walls and create resistance to outward movement.
If the slide drive has two gear tracks under the bed and one motor to drive them, remove the motor and operate the pinion gears with a rachet wrench (you should also be able to just push the slide with the motor off) so you can actually feel the resistance, it will be much easier to identify where the resistance is coming from.
The motor is a DC motor and should operate with the same power in both directions, unless the brushes or brush holders in the motor are displaced to some extent, which isn't very likely.
The gear box should be checked for rotational resistance.
I can't imagine the topper spring could be wound up so tight it's overpowering the motor but when extended, unwind the roller 1/2 turn so the topper is slack, tie it in place then operate the slide.

Have you checked if the bed box is digging into your carpet?

Are you sure it doesn't have 2 motors.

Are you sure your slidei doesn't have 2 motors.
I was looking at pictures of 2011 and 2014 Open Roads and they seemed to have upper and lower Schwintek tracks on the bedroom slides. I had several problems with my Schwintek Slides. The final solution was to get Vroom replacements.
When you run the slides, you should be connected to shore power or running the generator. Running the RV engine may not be enough help if your house batteries are down. That's what I do on my 2020 33AA. If the battery voltage is too low, it can get the Schwintek slides out of sync and damage them. I do this on the Vroom slides too, since they have similar motors and controllers.
Good Luck.
Jerry

I just spent $7000 having the slide out box where the bed is in 40 foot Tiffin Phaeton rebuilt. If you don’t know how to do it like I did not, I suggest you get in right away and make sure that they can get everything square, glued back up, and put in some extra support and brackets.. Mine was built kind of flimsy so we beefed it up without adding much weight.

Batteries are new - not a power issue. Tested.
It turns out it is the slide topper having too much tension.
Now — how do I release some of the tension on the topper

Depends on the maker of the topper. Find the maker and download the manual. These toppers are spring loaded, you don’t want to loosen a set screw unless you have control of the spring.
