Block heater on 2015 Allegro Red motorhome

Can anyone explain to me how the block heater operates on an Allegro red motorhome? This is an Allegro red diesel pusher 2015. I am assuming that the plug that is in the rear passenger side outside door by the engine is for that purpose. I cannot find anything in the manual to explain this. They say that it should not be plugged in when motorhome is running.
Thanks for your help!

There's a socket in the DS electrical bay, up in the top rear of that bay, that has an electrical plug right next to it which is the heater for the engine. Normally, you always leave the plug unplugged. If you are going to start the engine and the temp is around freezing, then you'd plug it in about an hour before you want to start. Since it's 120v, you need to be plugged into either shorepower, or running the generator for the heater to work.

If it's down in the teens, then plug it in about 4 hours before you want to start.

Be sure to unplug it, you don't want it plugged in when the engine is up to temperature.

I've used it once when in the 20's, but have had heaters on other diesel cars which I used all the time when I lived up north.

You should also find a little trickle charger there which is for the chassis batteries. Leave that plugged in all the time. PM if you can't find it and I'll go take a picture for you.

Not sure what plug you might be referencing on PS, not aware of anything there as built by Tiffin.

On my 2014 Phaeton, the plug is located in the last compartment on the passenger side. So if you don't find it on the driver's side, look on the other side. Operation is exactly as Kiawah said.

My 2016 Phaeton has the heater plug in the rear ps compartment also. I leave it plugged in all the time and have a switch located in the cockpit to turn it on and off.

RED's don't have a dash switch. We need to get butt out of bed and out into the cold to plug it in............OR....use a timer if I think ahead

Interesting that it's on your PS like the Phaeton's. What model do you have?

We have a 37PA and we had an issue with the Genset not starting this summer. I called Tiffin and the tech took me through a series of tests and it turned out when I unplugged the block heater in the rear passenger compartment the generator ran without incident. I could not figure that on out because the built in delay did not include the heater. The generator will not start with a load on apparently.

Issues like this has me concerned about the learning curve I will have to go through if I upgrade to a DP.

Ray I can tell you that today's Motorhomes have so many wonderful systems on them that the forum and people on them are invaluable. I have owned class c, class a gasser 36ft, and now diesel pusher 37pa. I tell you without a doubt that the bigger hey are the easier they drive. The amenities are also an added bonus. The first thing I did was start reading manuals. I loved it. Don't be afraid be excited. All of the owners forums are extremely helpful. Just my thoughts for what it is worth.
