Broken Bolt in the basement

I was getting something from the basement and saw this nut on a broken bolt as you can see in photo 1. I then looked up and saw where it came from as you can see in photo 2. Looks like it was part of the slide out mechanism. I wonder why it broke. The slide seems to function fine. I guess I just need to replace the nut and bolt from a hardware store like home depot or lowes.

I was told it's most likely a shear bolt. Luckily I found one just like it.

Shear bolt. Looks like that piece broke and dropped off. The slide is still working because the head end of the bolt is still jammed in. If that end drops out or shears too, one side of the slide will move and the other will not. Your slide will then jam. I'd definitely keep a spare handy and do a good check of the entire slide and drive mechanism. These things don't break for no reason. Something caused it.

Having had to replace a slide motor. I removed the shaft extension bolts to remove motor. Short shaft attached to motor fits inside the box channel extension and that bolt ties them together. Slide will still work..for awhile. But the box channel will become deformed and as other poster said slide will lose alignment. I would use a draft punch to align holes and get a case harden bolt in there.
Mine actually had pins with cotter pins. And they weren't shear pins either.
