Carefree Awning LED Leaking (Not Water)

Returned to 2016 Phaeton in garage storage after 3 months & leaking/dripping sticky liquid falling to ground & side of RV along the entire length of the LED lighting strip . . . Even forming soft "icicles" of the material that hang from the LED strip until dripping to ground (see photo). It's not water. Ideas on what it is, cause, how to fix? It's a mess. Thx in advance!

I know exactly what it is since I just had the same problem. It's the silicone in the LED strip basically melting in the heat. I first thought it was tree sap dripping down the side of the coach but had not been under any major trees. I looked at the awning and sure enough it looked just like yours.

I removed the LED strip and cleaned out the sticky mess with a light scraping and Acetone. I ordered a new LED strip from Amazon that fit perfectly in the the narrow slit, changing to warm white LEDs which I like better than the cool white it came with. You will have to change out the plug on the end of the strip but that's all. Here's a link to what I ordered for less than $20 with tax. Carefree wants $80 for replacement LEDs.

Lt Dan - THANKS! Misery loves company & thx for the fix too. I don't suppose it's a QA / Warranty issue with Carefree? I've also got the melted silicone on my RV paint . . . Goo-Gone only removing about 70% . . . Very Rookie Question . . . Will acetone damage my RV paint and/or ideas to completely remove the semi-dried silicone? Thanks again . . .

Don't use acetone on the paint as it can damage the clearcoat. It did not affect the powder coat on the awning. Keep working with GooGone and cleaner wax and it will clean up. You can also carefully scrape it off with a fingernail if it's hardened. I don't know if Carefree will cover it or not as I didn't contact them and wanted to change to warm white anyway.

Had the same problem. Though I contacted Carefree and provided pics and they sent me a replacement free of charge.
