Cheater vents

Recently I learned about the use of cheater vents in motorhomes I always thought everything routed through the roof vents The cheater vents are on all my sinks They we’re all bad and allowing sewer gas into the coach My question is does anyone know whether the shower and washing machine use cheater valves or are they actually routed through the roof ? Thanks

They are called AAV's (air admittance valves). Better quality ones are available at any plumbing supply store. It's quite possible that TMH used Hepvo traps on your washer, shower, and possibly kitchen sink in which case a vent is not needed. Only your eyes can confirm for sure.

Mine has a cheater on all the sinks. Found them all and replaced. I couldn’t find one one on the washer the pipe goes into the wall. I don’t know what a HEP-v looks like Will have to see if there is an access panel for the shower

On ours, the shower and the washing machine both use the HEPVO valves which don't require an AAV to provide air behind water.

To replace an air admittance valve are they glued on or screwed on? I'm considering getting a spare to carry in the MH.
Thanks,

I talked to Tiffin yesterday. The guy said the washer and shower both have cheater valves on my model. I still can’t find them. I also don’t see anything that looks like the HEP. The washer definitely has a P trap. Anyone with a coach near my year found these guys ?

If you have HEPVO valves, they’re usually under the floor. There should be an access panel nearby.

If you have the HEPVO valve/traps, DO NOT try to back flush or use a snake on them. Read the instructions on removing to clean.
