chipping a 350hp cummins to 400hp
hi folks, i have a 2007 phaeton 42qrh which i purchased new in 07. the fuel mileage is not too snappy. (current odometer 34000) just wondered if anyone out there has rechipped a 350 hp 8.9 litre cummins to 400 and if so did you realize better fuel mileage and did it effect how the engine ran. currently i tow a 22ft trailer (enclosed) w/a ford explorer inside. i just rolled up out of florida (west coast) to hilton head island in south carolina, i kept my foot out of it and maintained around 58 mph. low and behold i averaged 6.8 mpg which is about the best i've seen. i know it is alot of weight however when i have spoken to other owners they claim to be getting way better mpg. ant honest input would be appreciated thanx and happy motoring
