Turn your furnace on if the dash heat is not cutting it ! Works fine for us... (although the dash heat works well too, but when SWMBO goes back to tinkle - she does not like a cold seat )

We fashion a couple clear plastic shower curtains just behind the driver and passenger seats. This seals the cockpit area and the dash A/C or heat works great. Similar to the cab of a pick-up truck imo. The curtains overlap a bit in the middle for easy entry and exit. Easy to put up and take down before and after travel days.

It would help us help you if we knew what kind of rig you have. There are lots of options to keep the RV warm.

I was about to suggest something like this. Some sort of curtain/barrier to reduce the area that the engine needs to heat should solve the problem.

I have the same problem with my 2006 allegro bus. Just installed universal heated seat Inserts, have not had a chance to try out. I also run the hydro hot and a blanket on my lap when I drive.

The dash heater isn't gonna heat the entire motorhome space. Either run the furnace or, as we did on our mini, drape a barrier behind the front seats. The same issue exists when you want the dash air to cool the entire coach.

I've had 5 motorhomes (different brands) and can say that there has been one common problem in all of them.
The front cap is not sealed to the firewall. This lets hot, or cold air (depending on the season) to flow into the front of the coach up under the dash. I could just put my hand under the dash while driving and feel the temperature difference. It is not an easy place to get to, under the dash or out front under the front cap. Manufacturers just don't pay any attention to this. On my current coach, I placed a small light bulb up to the very top, under the cap, went inside and looked up under the dash and could see the light shining through.
It's been my experience with every coach. I have mine pretty well sealed up now and it makes a huge difference in the comfort.
I'm getting a new A/C evaporator box installed in the spring at the factory. They will have the top off the dash and that should expose the whole area that leaks air under the dash. May be using some expanding foam to finish off sealing things up.

We run the generator and put an electric heater on the floor between the seats.

If you have an inverter, get one or two small electricl heaters (Walmart). Simple on or off switch, tip over protection.
