Cover for entry steps

On our 2021 Allegro RED 340, the cover for the entry steps is manual and quite weak. It shifts and collapses when weight is put on it.
Has anyone modified or reinforced theirs to make it more stable?

I put a little wood spacer in the channel on each side. This kept my cover from sliding a little towards the door, which is a little wider and caused my cover to slip down. I also plan to put an aluminum angle piece on the edge that is adjacent to the door to improve the strength.

I haven't yet, but it is on my list. When I first bought it, I stopped for fuel. Of course this being my first coach, first time to drive one, and exhausted after taking my flight to go pick it up, I forgot to lift it and stepped on the edge near the door. It kicked up and I nearly broke my neck. I don't see myself doing that again since I am a lot more familiar and comfortable with driving the coach. However, yes, it is kind of a weak cover. My plan is to reinforce this with some metal flat stock on the bottom.

Step Cover Broken

The step cover on our 2018 Phaeton failed, requiring me to pull to remove the guide bar so the step cover could go in and out. It was stuck half-way. Will be going back to Red Bay to get it fixed.
