What engine? What year? This is why it is good to have your RV information in your signature.

IMHO...the 3000 series transmission may not handle the additional torque.. 400hp/1200 ft/lbs is about the limit.

Had mine done by Cummins and in my case it was a simple download. They run the VIN and confirm that the engine conforms to their requirements for cooling and such.
They do a max of 450 horse and 1250 lb/ft based on the Allison 3000.
We drove it for a year before the upgrade so we could really see the difference. We are very happy with it. Cost was right at 2600 bucks and that kept the factory warranty.

The problem your going to run into is the ISC 380 engine cannot be upgraded any farther as per Cummins, at least they won't do it. There are aftermarket suppliers that offer upgrades for the electronics, but no guaranties on how long the engine will survive after the upgrade.

I just took delivery of a 2021 Phaeton 40IH, ordered the 450. I have not driven said coach with the 380, but I can say I do NOT think I would have been happy with the 380.

As already mentioned, your 8.3 liter ISC engine was not designed to produce 450 hp or 1250# torque. The 380 hp 8.9 liter ISL is a different story. I had a 2011 40' Phaeton that performed ok, even pulling a 7,000# trailer. It wasn't a hotrod, but it got me where I wanted to go.

When pulling a grade rpms up, ie down shift , then up shift to maintain speed
I am still learning how it likes to be driven, if you let it fall off on the speed it will be a slow go
I am happy with mine towing

I had Cummins upgrade mine also but the charge was 5200 in July 2019. Was originally quoted 2600 but by the time they got all of the approval from headquarters the price doubled. I am still very happy that I had it done.

Agree, seems many are confusing the 8.9 liter ISL with the 8.3 liter ISC. Some ISL's and be brought up to 450 and 1250 ft/lbs
of torque. Believe the smaller ISC is maxed out at 380 hp and 1050 ft/lbs of torque according to Cummins.
