Dash Def gauge does not work

New to us 2017 Tiffin Phaeton 40 QBH on a Freightliner Chassis. There are no problem codes but the DEF gauge on the dash does not light up/ work. Is there a simply inline fuse or ? The gauge looks like illuminated green bar lights stacked on top of each other.

Thank You Tim

I think I understand your question you have no light or gauge showing empty or full showing? Nothing you need to worry about.

Is that the only off lights on the dash? meaning it may be a fuse issue under the driver's seat. or glove box. Be careful

Time to ask some yourself some questions. The DEF in others run down over 10.000-miles. do you recall it being that long from the last refill? So when did you last fill?

This short video may help you:

Also in this forum, they use "TAGS" think of them as a mailbox. When you enter a message if you don't enter a tag the computer will make the selection. your tag showing under your post is "DASH" if you can add DEF and "Gauge"

Just about any time there is a gauge malfunction it's due to faulty connections, either primary or ground. I would remove the dash and check all of the connections. If that doesn't clear it up, then check all of the connections on the DEF tank. The gauge on the tank is a direct read but requires a feed line to the dash gauge.

To help clarify, I took this off the web...

A gauge on the instrument panel shows how much DEF is in the tank. In some cases, the gauge consists of four LED bars within the diesel fuel gauge. Four green LED bars mean the DEF tank is full; three green bars indicate it’s three-fourths full, and so on.

My LED bars do not illuminate so it doesn't indicate the level of DEF in the tank. I will continue to check for fuse under the drivers seat, I didn't think to look there...

Thank You

There is no fuse under the driver's seat. There are some circuit breakers on the chassis panel in the driver's side front compartment. One of them is for panel lamps, but the dash gauge functions are powered by the chassis batteries. As I previously posted, check the connections at the gauge and also on the DEF tank itself. You should have a gauge on the tank so see what level it shows (it only displays when the ignition key is on) to see if you actually have fluid.

go by a truck stop and use their pump to fill it up, then write down the mileage and in 7500 miles or so fill it up again, if it still has a lot left, next time wait 9000 miles, and adjust from then on in the future...

Most of the instruments can be tested via the LBCU. I think that the DEF indication is one of them.
