Dashboard compass almost always says NE

Any idea why my dashboard compass almost always reads NE? I have set the compass zone and driven in many circles. No improvement. Sometimes it seems to work properly but not for long. It always reverts to NE.
Any help is appreciated.

Setting the zone and driving in circles is how you set it for your area

That not doing it...compass is broke

Our compass has never worked right since new. Sometimes is shows the correct direction and other times it's stuck in one or the other.
