Decal removal

Good morning and Merry Christmas everyone.

A couple months ago I solicited the help of the people for stripe and decal removal on our 05 Open Road. The decals were cracked and shrunken from the sun and the elements and just looked terrible and unacceptable.

This is what I learned from our people and other research, just in case you are going thru similar issues with your coach.

#1--everyone tells you what a catastrophic undertaking you're getting into and two different sign companies told me between $1200.00 and $1500.00 just to remove the stripes and decals and glue it leaves behind.
A--I removed the stripe and decals myself, wait for a warm sunny day, where the coach feels warm to hot to the touch, most of them will easily peal off.
The ones that won't use a rubber wheel in your drill, you can purchase at most major parts stores. This takes a little work but not that bad.
B--Wash the remaining clue left behind off with Goo Off does great Job.
I probably have six hours in removal and clean up.

#2 Tiffin wants $4500.00 for the decals, off the shelf and we have no way of knowing how long they have been on the shelf.

Well,.. thanks to the person on this site who gave me the name of a company in Arizona that they have used and recommend. I called them, talked to the owner his name is Steve, very professional and this is the outcome so far. Steve will cut paper proofs and send them to me to tape on for size and fit once we are satisfied the size is correct he will send sample colors and material, once we are satisfied he will cut decals and ship, my body shop man will install.
Steve has cut several Open Road sets for other folks, that makes it more cost effective because he has the layout saved. He does not recommend using shelved decals., as they deteriorate with shelf time, makes more difficult for installation the longer they are rolled up.
When it is completed I will have $2000.00 or less in the Job. Decals warrantied 5 years. will update as time goes on.

Hope you can use this, I anyone is interested I can furnish company name and phone numbers for decals.

Good information. I've always used hair drier to easily remove decals and adhesive remover to finish the job. Contact local body shop to get contact information to get mobile detail shop to custom install decals.
