Demco Stay & Play DUO on Diesel coach

I have searched and found posts similar to mine but they were too old to write a response and ask more questions.

I had a gas class A and used the Stay and Play DUO system for toad braking. I ordered a Red which has a diesel with air brakes. I'm told I can still use my DUO and don't need to waste money (I sure don't want to) on Air Force system.

I read it will work fine just add the supplemental wireless brake light notification to my front dash that Demco sales.

Thoughts & Suggestions?

Thanks.

I have the exact SMI system and went from a gas motorhome to a Tiffin Red. I ran a power line from the towed car to the dash so i could see the brakes going on in the car, the system works perfectly. I thought the same thing about change to the air system but found no need.

Do the brake lights come on when the engine brake is being used?

Yes, they normally do but can be reprogrammed to only activate with the brake.

From the installation manual:
Quote:
The wiring installation utilizes the brake lights of the RV to activate the Demco system in combination with “G-Force.” If
the coach is equipped with an exhaust brake that illuminates the brake lights of the coach, extra attention must be given
to the activation light. On steep grades all G-Force sensors will sense inertia faster and more quickly due to the angle of
the grade. You may need to adjust it slightly closer to the “less sensitive” (upper) position. This has very little effect in the
activation of the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo on level terrain because of the difference in G-Force with two wheels braking
(as in an exhaust brake) and with four (or more) wheels braking when the service brakes are applied. The G-Force Sensor
will likely not need to be re-adjusted.
Just a suggestion, you can use the trailer brake controller wire that's bundled under the dash to run your line. The controller wiring should be in a bundle of three to four wires near the steering column. There will be a blue wire in there for the controller that goes to a pin on the trailer connection at the rear. I used mine to run a LED signal wire to the dash.

Wow, wish i had known that, stringing that extra wire from the rear bumper to the front steering wheel was a lot of work and took a lot of time. Plus buying the two wires and making connectors. And yes i did reset the braking level on the car to not be as aggessive with the Tiffin as it was with the gas motorhome.
