Dirty Mirror housings

I recently discovered the mirror housings on my 21 Allegro 340 have some kind of stain/dirt on them which is very difficult to remove. I also discovered the housings are chromed plastic and not chrome plated metal. I have made some progress removing whatever it is that is there using glass stove top cleaner but it is slow going and needs much elbow grease. Very disappointed in the chromed plastic on a coach of this caliber. Have others experienced this and how were the housings cleaned up?

I have used Meguiar's Ultimate Polish with good results. You could also try their Ultimate Compound.

Ours had something, blueish, in a few spots. I used Goo Gone. Still takes some work, but it got the job done without harming the finish.

You can also use 0000 steel wool and it will not scratch the finish. I use that all the time on the mirrors and the windshield to remove dried on bugs.

I would not use steel wool on the plastic chrome plated parts…

Any chance it may be clear coat overspray? I had a lot of that on my windshield in a spot that wasn't taped up properly. Try some lacquer thinner to see if it comes off easier. I removed all mine with a steel razor blade. You might try a plastic razorblade on the chrome plastic.
