Dish Tailgater

Does anyone know how to hook up a Dish Tailgater to a 2013 38' Tiffin Allegro Red motorhome? We have an on-board existing satellite system (Winegard) but we would like to use the Tailgater when we are unable to get a good satellite connection. Dish's receiver is currently hooked up to the existing system. The are two coax connections in our outside electrical compartment and there is a label that says cable tripod. We have tried both connections but are still unable to see the tailgater. Dish tech support no help because it is a motorhome and they only know how to hook it up directly to the receiver.

You should have two coax cables inside the compartment with your satellite receiver. One is for the rooftop satellite and the other is for the outside connection. You will have to swap out the coax connector on the back of your receiver to the correct one.

Use the outside connector marked "Tripod" for your tailgater. That is the outside satellite connection. The "Cable" connector is for the park cable system.

I installed a coax AB switch inside the receiver compartment to switch between rooftop and exterior.

Hope this helps.

A/B Switch

You should have an A/B switch in the top of the cabinet with the bedroom TV. Change that switch & try your external sat.
