Do you have "flashing" lighting control panels?

From first owning our 2018 Phaeton, the light control panel on the PS slide, between the couch & dinette windows has flashed off/on, intermittently. Quite annoying when trying to watch a DVD movie on the adjacent big screen TV.

So I had the thing replaced when I took the coach to the dealer for a few other fixes that we found needed corrected. Now the new panel has some issues, like it wouldn't light up when I waved my hand in front of it & one of the light control buttons wasn't working as it should.

Anyway, I checked with Lt. Dan & Tiffin on the new issues & they both suggested I contact Christian @Spyder Controls.

SO, here's the deal with the flashing light control panels, per Christian:
The feature your talking about with waving your hand is called prox sense. Prox sense was a feature added for only early 2018 Bus, Phaeton and Zephyr. It has since been removed as we experienced issues with the panels lighting up by themselves due to wiring behind the switch panel. We did introduce a feature that allowed the prox sense to be disabled. You can check on your main 7" LCD screen to see this feature. Go to Settings > Switch Settings > Enable/Disable Prox.

If I'd have known that, I wouldn't have bothered to have the panel replaced. I would've just disabled that function from the LCD console.

So if you develop the annoying flashing light control panel syndrome & your coach is one of those listed, see if your Spyder has the feature to disable that prox sense. It's a neat function, but not when it's got compatibility issues that makes it go bonkers.

We do not have the switch setting option in our display, and have the issue where the panels come on and off. With the prox off, are the panels on or off all the time?

The panels would be off all the time if the prox sense is off.

I only see in the dark

I've noticed a sorta similar issue. The panels seem to work OK, but when the panel light is switched off (and it's dark) I notice a dim orangish flash on just one panel. The other panels has a dim white glow in the dark.

I found a high resistance short in the wire for the D/S Slide lights causing them to NOT work. I haven't actually found the defect yet, but I added some slack to the wires running under the slide from the basement through the slide support (diving board). I'm assuming the insulation is worn where the wires turn right to go to the center of the slide. The slack solved the "lights not working" and now the panel does not flash, It is white/green.
