Door seal squeak

The seal around the door of our RV squeaks as we drive down the road. Any remedies?

If it is the actual rubber seal making the noise, then a dry lube spray or baby powder may help. But it could also be the door striker bolt rubbing on the door latch system. If so, a good dry lube would help here also.

I know you posted this in the Tiffin forum, but posting the year and model of your coach would help diagnose. There have been changes over the years in the door design.

Try Boshield T-9 I use frequently to stop squeaks and lube surfaces.

I buy it on-line, made by Boeing.

Tape works for us

Three wraps of electrical tape around the striker bolt works for us too. You have to replace it every 4 to 5 thousand miles.

Adjusting the position of the striker bolt normally does not help.
Regards,

Jerry

First, I would try adjusting the striker. I know if we don't close the door hard or make sure it catches the last lock, it will squeak terribly. You may try increasing the size or putting something under the rubber bumpers on the door casing.

For the first 2 years, we found we really had to slam the door to get it to latch properly. Then we finally got it adjusted so that it would close much easier, but then we got the squeaky door issue.

We tried everything suggested here and other forums, and really couldn’t isolate the cause; even having one of us sit in the stairwell and pull, shove, etc on the door as we were going down the road (I know, it dangerous, and someone knows someone who died doing this, but we live on the razors edge ), but problem was becoming more consistent and annoying. We got to the point though we thought it was the latch, and I’d spray it (soak it actually) with silicone and it would solve the problem for a (short) while.

Then after seeing this thread, I tried the 3 wraps of electrical tape. The silence is deafening over the last 700 miles .

Yes, it will have to be replaced regularly, but it works. And yes, we could probably mess around with the latch bolt, but then we’d be back to fighting the door closure issue. So, this it it for us.

Now, how about the squeaky drivers window frame (yes, I’ve tightened all the screws.....).
