For the first 2 years, we found we really had to slam the door to get it to latch properly. Then we finally got it adjusted so that it would close much easier, but then we got the squeaky door issue.
We tried everything suggested here and other forums, and really couldn’t isolate the cause; even having one of us sit in the stairwell and pull, shove, etc on the door as we were going down the road (I know, it dangerous, and someone knows someone who died doing this, but we live on the razors edge
), but problem was becoming more consistent and annoying. We got to the point though we thought it was the latch, and I’d spray it (soak it actually) with silicone and it would solve the problem for a (short) while.
Then after seeing this thread, I tried the 3 wraps of electrical tape. The silence is deafening over the last 700 miles
.
Yes, it will have to be replaced regularly, but it works. And yes, we could probably mess around with the latch bolt, but then we’d be back to fighting the door closure issue. So, this it it for us.
Now, how about the squeaky drivers window frame (yes, I’ve tightened all the screws.....).
