Drilling Hole Through Roof Above TV Cabinet 32SA

I have a 2018 32SA and am adding a new wifi/cell antenna on the roof which will connect to my network equipment installed in the shallow cabinet above the living room television. An ideal scenario for me would be to drill a hole directly above the cabinet and through the roof where I will install a sealed box to pass the antenna cables through.

Has anybody installed a similar antenna this way and in the general area I am talking about? Is there much risk going through the roof in this area, besides properly sealing a waterproof box over the hole?

Thanks in advance.

I've not done any drilling on my Open Road, but I do know that I have three factory made openings at the forward end of the roof for the radio antenna, GPS dongle and in-motion dish (which I didn't get). I think I'd just give Tiffin a call (although I understand that may be difficult at the moment due to the storm) to see what they do to assure any roof opening is weather/water proof.

I agree with the previous poster. One thing that I have found useful is this inexpensive endoscope camera. I will drill a hole the size of the camera, 1/4 inch maybe, with a drill stop, then use the endoscope to see what's there to make sure there aren't wires or whatever.

Good luck with the project

that is a great idea. i actually have one that I use for structured cabling jobs and when I look above the shallow cabinet I just see the drop ceiling material. i can't seem to find a schematic of the space between the drop and the roof. I'll give Tiffen support a shout and see if they can help me hone in on that location.
