Driver’s side automatic window won’t close

Had to open window this afternoon in Arizona. Opened fine, but now won’t close. Automatic window on driver’s side. Any help appreciated. Thanks. 2017 Allegro Bus.

What are you seeing? No action at all, stops before it is closed, any noise?

I just fixed a similar problem on my vintage rig. First …when you push tie up button can you hear the window motor running? If you do then the screw mechanism is shot and has to be replaced. It can be bought on the internet depending on the build of your motor home …ie…Ford, Chevy, Sprinter, etc. Remove the inside panel of the door for access. If you just want to put out up temporarily once the inner panel is remove you can push it up by hand, see if you can use the window switch to assist, and wedge it in place. If you’re handy you can replace the mechanism yourself. It’s relatively easy with a power screwdriver, Phillips head and a drill of the unit you get to replace it needs a little modification to mount it. My unit is s1996 For B56 and I was able to get a similar unit from Peter Built.

You didn’t happen to tighten the screws on the rail the window rides in? That rail has to be loose.

I believe the fuse for this window is outside up front below drivers seat. And Gary is correct, it goes against everything that makes sense to me but the screw on the track at the bottom must be loose.

No. Haven’t touched the screws. Fuse is ok. Makes clicking noise when I push button to open. No noise when I push it to close.

Follow up: just a bad switch and not the motor. New one on the way.

Just a heads up when you get the new switch. We had to replace the one on our 14 bus and when it arrived I thought they sent me the wrong one, it didn't match the original. I later found out that they upgraded the switch and it was correct, but I had to have them send me a new wiring diagram. Don't quote me but the original one had 4 connections and the new one had 6. It required me to create a couple of jumper wires but wasn't a big ordeal.

Didn't want you to get it, send it back, only to find out it was correct like I did. Hopefully with yours being a newer coach it is a direct replacement.

Do you still have that wiring diagram by chance?

GARYKK: Do you have the fix for the drivers open/close track? I read somewhere on the forum about spacing with #10 nuts, but can't find it. If you do, please forward the instructions to me. THANKS.

No sorry…all I know is that the rail must be a little loose. I learned the hard way on our previous coach. Tightened the screws and the window would not close. Loosened them back to where they were and all was fine.

Those switches have a design defect. There is actually an easy fix you can do. Just pop the switch out an pull out the plastic rocker and file down the tabs, as shown in the image, before and after.
