Driver side slide/lights malfunctioning

We are purchasing a 2010 Tiffin Allegro Red 36' motorhome. The driver side slide continues to blow a fuse when we put it in and out and that also causes the lighting system on that side of the coach to not work. Has anyone who owns a Tiffin Allegro had problems with the slides. We have four on our coach. We are concerned as we also have the A/C problem with the A/C not cooling properly as well.

Do not buy this coach until the current owner can demonstrate that short and the air conditioning can be fixed.

You have a bare wire somewhere in the wiring harness for the slide. You can trace the circuit fairly easily as Tiffin prints the circuit name on each piece of wire. Start at the fuse and follow the wire until you can read which circuit it is. Then look for the same wire in the slide. The problem is likely where the wiring exits the slide and goes back into the body structure. (That will be in the rear corner of the slide).

From your other post, the A/C performance is not "normal" as the seller states. We had a 32CA Open Road and it did fine. We now have a Phaeton 36GH and it does even better. You could have a defective unit and the only way to check is use a thermometer and run one at a time. Things you can do is avoid parking in full sun, point the motorhome some direction other than South or West, use a windshield cover (I like the aluminum coated bubble wrap stuff you can get a Lowes or Home Depot), insulate the front cap, and so on.

Agree with Roger, let the seller repair the slide out problem as well as the A/C problem. Our 36 RED A/C's worked perfectly even in Florida.

I completely agree..let the present owner fix the problems, if he wants to deal with you. You could be looking at an new AC unit at worse and a bunch of dealer service time at $105/hour on the wiring problem. Both might be quick and easy repairs, but there are plenty of coaches out there looking for new homes, why invest in trouble. These two items might be the most visible. Check the wet-bay floor for sagging and for soft spots on the underside ends of the driver's side slide. Both could need to be replaced.
