Drivers seat RED

I have seen in past forums concerns about the comfort of the driver seat in the Tiffin Allegro RED series. I’m 6‘4“ tall and weigh 200 pounds. The head and neck rest seems to be too low and hits me a crossed my shoulder blades causing me to slouch forward. I have tried to put a lumbar support in but that tends to push me too close to the dash. Other than this problem I absolutely love my PA 37. I looked at trading up to a phaeton or a bus but I find that the floorplan we currently have works best for us. Has anybody found this to be a problem and if so what solutions have you tried?

Hello Goodro,
I’ve had to modify my driver seat in my Red33AA for the opposite reason as i’m 5’-6” with short legs. The seat was too high and my heel would not touch the ground properly. I modified (lowered) the seat base by 2 inches
In my precious gasser, I also had the driver seat shortened by 1 1/2 inches to match my femur and not have constant pressure behind the knees. Also reshaped the foam on the ‘seating portion’ of the seat.
That being said, you could check with an upholsterer and have him ‘reshape’ the back rest of your seat. He can remove the vinyl fabric which is usually a ‘slip on’ and shape the foam to your liking.

Hello RJEV,
Iv’e lowered my seat by modifying the swivel base. Took it apart, grinded the weld of the vertical tube to the bottom plate, shortened the tube by approx 2 inches and welded back to the bottom plate making sure everything is aligned.
Some mods are also needed on the top swivelling part where the seat is bolted on. The bracing from side to side has to be cut of as it will hit the bolts that hold the base to the floor.
I’m aware that my mods could affect ‘crash performance’ of my seat and safety belt as they are not oem approved but i don’t mind at all, I’m the one driving this RV for my pleasure and having a proper seating position is a must.
