Dry camping and batteries

On a 2017 Phaeton how many hours do you get out of the batteries before recharging? I do not like to run my below 12.1 to 12.0 amps. We do some dry camping and I'm wondering if I need to upgrade or will the standard batteries last thru the night.

We routinely dry camp overnight in our 2015 Phaeton 36gh with no problems. Just shut all 12 volt draining gear off and run the genset for an hour or so in the AM. The residential fridge holds well and the batteries go to full charge via the genset in an hour or so.

BTW, our rving days are about over and our 2015 Phaeton 36gh is for sale. Check the classifieds here for details and just get back to me directly if you need more info.

We have six GC2 wet batteries and RR in our phaeton. We easily can go through the night on batteries, even with propane furnace running. Of course it all depends on your usage.

We replaced the stock lead acid batteries with Lifeline AGM 6 Volt batteries listed below. They give us 600 ah and will keep everything going all day and into the night. We have a residential refrigerator, but we do turn things off that do not need to be on. I run the generator an hour in the morning and about 1.5 hours at night to keep the batteries completely charged. AGM batteries charge faster and are able to be discharged to a lower voltage. You can fully discharge AGMs many more times without damage and there is no gassing or corrosion issues. Solar panels will help as well, but we have not gone that way yet. I'm concerned that flat mounting the panels will decrease their efficiency too much.

If you dig into the Lifeline specs, and compare them to flooded cell batteries, you will see they are equal.

50% DOD 1000 Cycles
80% DOD 500 Cycles

DOD being Depth of Discharge.

12.2 volts is 50% discharged. If you go below this, you
will shorten your battery life dramatically. Lifeline AGM
batteries are the best quality, and the most expensive.
