DVD player

I have 2012 Open Road and want to upgrade the DVD player to blue ray. The home theater speaker connections to the original player are color coded plastic snap ins. A technician who installs a lot of systems says I cannot cut these off to connect to a receiver, wont work. Panasonic no longer makes this set up. Does anyone know how I can put in a blue ray without changing out the whole speaker system.

What is the model number of your DVD player? If the plastic snap-ins are just wire terminations for both speaker wires from each speaker and the ohms are compatible I see no reason it would not work.

My TV drives my surround sound system. I hooked my DVD player to one of the available HDMI inputs, and it works fine. Just switch inputs on the TV when you want to watch your Blu Ray.

Most TV's have a number of inputs. Maybe that would work for you.

I don’t understand why it won’t work either. But when I was about to purchase a receiver at Best Buy the Geek guy who does their installations happened by, asked if I had the colored connector clips which I do, and told me it wouldn’t work. I really didn’t understand why but I wasn’t about to spend $150 and find out the hard way that he was right. The model # on the original Panasonic player is SA-XH150

When I connect the Blue Ray to the HDMI input I only get the sound through the tv speakers, not the theater system. And yes, I urned the tv speakers off which didn’t help.

Maybe it is due to the system having 3ohm speakers. Here is a link to the owners manual.ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/hometheater/...h150_en_om.pdf

It could be adapted to work.
