Entry Door Squeak

Had the service techs move the door strike so we didn’t have to slam the door to get it to fully catch. Now the door squeaks like crazy. Thinking about moving the strike back to the way it was. Anyone know how to adjust the strike or solution to solve the squeaking? 2022 Allegro 36 LA.

The rubber around the door will compress some over time. We had to slam ours pretty hard for the first year or so to get it to latch the deadbolt. After it has "seasoned" in it doesn't require a hard slam but a firm one to get it to shut all the way. You should the later adjustable striker plate, which our 2017 did not have. You can remove the cover plate on the door jamb and adjust the striker bolt back to tighten it up some.

Sounds like your door might be a bit loose but if you don't have any air noise you could try a few drops of mineral oil or vaseline on the bolt and latch.

Standard equipment in cabinet over door is a can of spray silicone dry lube. Spray mine ever so often.

If it is a door with a single post strike that the door latch catches onto, try wrapping 2 or 3 wraps of electrical tape around the post.

Had this problem on my last motorhome. Read the solution here on IRV2. For me, it worked!

Eventually the tape would wear through, so I’d peel off the old and apply some new. Usually could go months between applications.

PTL Engineering has some really good videos including door adjustment. They are also very responsive. I had an issue and needed some part diagrams or photos and one of the engineers got right back to me with some photos.

Also, each notch of the Star wheel moves the door 1/32”, so they may have moved it too much. The factory position is shown in the video.
