Entry steps are loose

I replaced the dead motor with a new one (Tiffin $195. Amazon $105). Anyway, the steps are loose when stepped on. I suspect the steps were not FULLY extended when I installed the motor/gear and might be one tooth off. Anyone have any thoughts on this before I crawl underneath and take things apart again?

The motor goes until it meets resistance and stalls so a tooth off won't make any difference. With the step fully extended, verify that the arm is fully against the stop built onto the gearbox. If it's not, then something may be impeding it going all the way to its full lock position. If it is against the stop, then you may have some slack in the connection from the gearbox to the step.

As Lt. Dan mentioned, the motor stops on resistance, if it’s not extending all the way you most likely have a bind somewhere. Disconnect the motor, see if there is anything binding, if not, you may have a defective motor.
