Fan belt

I was doing some maintenance on my bus today and noticed the radiator fan belt was pretty loose. It's always been noisy when it turns on & off. Just wondering if this is normal because I couldn't see a way to adjust it. Thanks, Rob

Is this a multi grove serpentine belt on a diesel engine ?

Could be your auto tensioner has seized up .

Have the belt and tensioner ever been replaced ??

I think we have the same MH, 2014 Allegro Bus 37 AP. If so, no that is not normal.

I agree your tensioner is not doing its job. Verify it moves.

Thanks but this belt only runs the radiator fan assembly it's not the main belt that has a tensioner.

Mine is not hear to check, however, I would bet the driven pully is on slotted holes that allow the belt to be loosened, replaced and slid over to tighten it.

You do have a 2014 Allegro Bus 37AP, correct? (That is what is in your profile. )

If so, you should have this setup. (This is our 2014 Allegro Bus 37AP.)

The pulley for the fan gear box is just to the upper left. The tensioner is bottom right. Click image for larger version

Thanks DRM901 for the picture, I tried to send you mine but haven't figured out how to attach it. I'm very technically challenged! Lol

You can see that someone broke the bracket on the tensioner and just replaced the belt without one.

You need to get someone to fix this. Not sure what that person was thinking, and what would have caused the bracket to break. Would make me take it in to a trusted mechanic and have them go over it completely.

Now that I see the picture, I remember a problem with that idler bracket breaking. Tiffin came with a modified bracket to replace the OEM one. I found mine cracked and replace it before it broke. I'm not certain, but I think the 2014 model was included in that issue. I remember that it took Tiffin a couple of changes to get the bracket strong enough to hold.

Tiffin didn't mention it when I checked for any recalls.

I don't remember if it was a recall, although I think Tiffin sent it to me at no charge as the coach was only 2 or 3 years old at the time.

Thanks everyone! Makes sense now, it has no adjustment. I've only had this coach a couple years, have only made small trips while trying to learn about the different systems and work on my retirement. I can now see the broken metal where something is missing! This is my third motorhome I'm impressed with the Tiffin quality over my previous units. Thanks again,
Rob

Your comment made me go out and take a good look at my bracket! Mine looks good.
