First time class A owner with a question.

We have traded our fifth wheel toy hauler for a 2012 Allegro Red 38QRA. We're in the process of getting to know this rig and digest some of the books (there are a lot of books). My question is electrical. The Allegro is stored inside and is plugged into a 20 amp electrical service. With everything I can find turned off it is still pulling 6 amps. Can the charger be pulling that much or is there something I'm just not finding?

This is a great group on this forum and I'm betting someone can give me a simple answer, which will be much appreciated.

Yes the converter/charger can be that many amps. Also there are other loads - like the CO detector (those can be 1 amp by itself). If the fridge is on auto, then it can draw a couple amps. Radio, even in sleep mode could be an amp. Go thru your coach and look for loads.

With my rig plugged in and the converter/inverter on float charge, nothing turned on, I see 2 amps.

Is that 6 Amps on the 115V side or the DC side? 6A at 115V is over half a kilowatt. 6A at 12V is 72 Watts. Big difference!

I just bought two cutoff switches online for 6 bucks each. Attached to house batteries and also chassis battery. When I put them on disconnect it draws nothing because it gets no juice at all from the batteries. With a battery tender on an extension cord it is fine

It's on one of the 115V legs.

On the house inverter I see 3.5-5.5A on the DC side with everything shut off.
