Flipping Front Bathroom Door on Phaeton

2017 Phaeton 40QBH here. If I have the front DS slide pulled in AND the bedroom/front room slide door is CLOSED, I cannot open the small bathroom door enough to get into the bathroom. The handle is on the right hand side and a person’s body just cannot get between the slide door and open door. The retracted slide doesn’t allow you to full open the door.

BUT, in looking at the door and frame, it APPEARS that I could take the door off, remove the frame, and actually FLIP the entire frame and door so it would open from the LEFT hand side. That should allow entry in the above situation.

Does others have the same situation that I do?
More importantly, has anyone else actually done what I proposed with a successful result?

TIA

Remember the old carpenters saying, measure twice, cut once. Look for reasons your idea will not work, if you can't find or think of one, full speed ahead. Make that MH your own.

If you flip the door frame, won't it open into the bathroom instead of out? If the problem is the door catching on the slide carpet, you can always cut a little off the bottom of the door. We had to to that to our friend's Fleetwood Excursion.

16 40QBH--can access the 1/2 bath with slides in, close but quite doable. Don't know what the difference is...
Looking at my door, looks like the dimensions for doorknob are close vertically if flipped over sidewise, not around. Just measured--knob is almost the same from floor to knob and ceiling to knob. Looks like the door jamb/frame is identical both sides. One caveat--the hinges will stick out when slide is open, guarantee you are going to hit elbows, catch clothes on them if they stick out on the other side as they do currently.

We have a 2014 QBH. With all slides in and the bedroom door closed, you can't get into the half-bath. SO, we just open the bedroom door and there is room to get into the half-bath. Of course, this is only an issue when on the move and stopped for a break, like at a rest area.

I have been in AB's that don't even have enough room to walk from the cockpit to the kitchen without bumping out a slide a foot or so.

Regards.

Chuck

Never thought about the bedroom door--'cause we travel with it open.

Not flip inside/out, but rather top/bottom. So as it sits now, hinges on left and knob on right. Afterwards, hinges on right and knob on left. It would then open towards front of coach instead of back.

Also it’s only been an issue when we boondock and I’m up early. DS slide in, DW still asleep, slide door closed = Me can’t go to bathroom. Then slide door wakes DW up and jeopardize ’happy wife, happy life’! [emoji33]

Same here. Only an issue with two things…DS slide IN and bedroom slide door CLOSED. And that only typically occurs when we’re parking lot boondocked and DW still sleeping and I’m up. Traveling, slide door is always open and locked in place.

Think I’ll really eyeball it and see. Looks like screws are only thing holding it all in place. On the inside, there’s a clothes hook at the top. When done, it would be at the bottom and have to be moved back to new ‘top’….or Not. I don’t think we’ve ever used it…but I better ask to make sure….’happy wife, ….’ [emoji16]
