Other than disconnecting the door switch or removing power to the step? No.

Sure there is. Just bypass the magnetic door switch in the door frame and put a switch in the line.

You can make them stay out when opening and closing the door. as I am sure you know.
Just curious, why would you want them to stay in when opening the door?
None of my business is an acceptable reply.

Where is the magnetic switch in the door frame? My steps won't retract when the door is closed and I'm trying to trouble shoot the problem. Thanks in advance

I would think the easiest way would be to trip the breaker which should be in the front-most driver side bay. I've reset a breaker on that panel before but have never tried to put one in disconnect mode. Any one know if they can be tripped manually?
According to this chart, mine is #53:

My Phaeton, 2018 QBH, has push buttons in the hinge side of the frame that open and close the door switch. I just had to replace my controller for the steps staying out. The manual has great troubleshooting steps.

step switch
I have a 2009 open road. there is a panel of switches to left of entrance steps one is to keep steps from going in and out when closing door. Flip it and the steps stay out when closing door. If you forget to flip switch when going on the road safety will close steps when starting MH. Hope that helps!

On my coach, the steps extend when the little magnet, located on the screen door, is moved away from the switch on the door frame. Just put a little magnet to the switch when the door is open.

I had a similar problem and called Lippert support, the tech took me through several checks and discovered it was a corroded wire to the controller, he was very helpful. Good luck!

Just browsing through the forum and saw your question to the poster. Can't answer for them, but I can give you a scenario where I need them to stay in. When I bring my coach to the house, I park it in the street. Our police enforce the ordinance where we have to park in the direction of traffic (passenger side to curb). In doing this, I can't get my coach lifted high enough to allow the steps to clear the curb. The steps either smash into the curb or drag over the top. I'd love to deactivate this in this scenario. I realize I can install a switch to do this at some point. Turns out while our neighborhood enforces parking ordinances, they don't enforce minimum tree limb heights over the roadway. So it's a perilous drive to even get to my house. I don't bother doing it any longer.
