Generator won’t run
I was exercising my generator today, started it up, let it run 15 minutes or so to warm up. Turned on the AC/heat pump to put a load in it for a while and it kicked out. Tried numerous restarts and AGS test starts with no luck, it will turn over then die. Couple of times my AGS switched from enable to off as well. Only have 27 hours on it (Onan 8.5 diesel). Primed the pump, no luck. Anyone had this happen, trying some more troubleshooting before heading back to the dealer ( it is on warranty).

Sorry to hear that!
My generator had more than 60 hours on it when I bought it and I've run it numerous times and added more than 30 hours since purchase.
No issues so far.
Good luck!

how long did it sit for?
It is very common in today's generators that you don't put fuel stabilizer in or run on a very regular basis to get Gummed up.
I know people that have to rebuild their Carburetor almost every season to every other season because they let them sit for the whole off season.
That's the first and most common reason why generators will start and not keep running they're being starved for fuel or they are flooding them selfs out, the other is a vapor lock starving for oxygen.
two things that I do to prevent this, on your line that goes to the generator put a shout off valve and run it out of gas this way gas will not sit in the carb and gunk it up, or make the floats stick. another thing to do is put Fuel stabilize in every time you fill up. and the last thing that most people do not like doing but I do on all my toys, I only run supper Unleaded gas.

Fuel tank is over 3/4 full, last time I ran it was late December (after XMAS) so hasn’t been sitting very long. Picked up the rv in October, exercised it later November and December, first time with the issue. Thanks to all for the replies.

Onan Microlite 2800 KV generator
Hello everyone I an new to this forum and I have a question in hopes someone may give me a clue as to what I need to look for in my problem solving. I have a 2003 Roadtrek 190 Versatile on a dodge chassis. The situation is that in Oct 2018 my aux. battery box rusted through and the battery dropped physically to the ground and was dragged approximately 150 feet where i realized and stopped and unhooked the battery. Prior to this event my generator was working great and cranked and ran fantasticly. I replaced the battery box and rehooked all wires and thought everything was fine, howerver, the only thing that would not work was the generator. Everything else worked fine. I also replaced the battery isolator under the hood and the batteries are charging great with no problem. I replaced the 5 amp fuse up front of the generator to no avail. Still no power. I was hoping someone may have some clue as to where I should look next. The generator has no power at the remore monitor or from teh start/stop switch on the unit itself. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

It sound's like your missing power if it worked great prior to the battery falling out. I would make sure the battery is fully charged and the wire's are connected correctly first, then trace the wire's. Also check the fuses on the generator it self.

When something that was working fine and doesn't work after you have changed something always look at the something you just changed. Make it the first thing you do before looking elsewhere. This theory applies to everything and usually solves the problem.

Back to OP problem: It your RV is in Cold weather Storage Sounds like a fuel flow problem caused by cold temperature. Wait until spring and your problem will probably go away.

Don't bother taking your generator back to your RV dealer, they are ill equipped to deal with it. Locate and call the local Cummins/Onan dealer and have them take a look at it.
BTW, it sounds to me like the fuel filter needs to changed in the generator. It could be more complicated than that but that is a good starting point.

Thanks, that was my plan and I am hoping the fuel filter as well. Only have 30 hours on it but figure on doing the 50 hour service at the same time. Appreciate the response, safe travels!

You don’t mention where the unit is stored but this sound like a jelled fuel problem.
