Help Wanted On Inverter Power

Hello. My husband and I recently bought a used Phaeton and had our first camping weekend. We loved the experience, as did the dog . As expected there were a couple of things that did not go smoothly. I am hoping to get help with questions such as where can I get a heating pad that will work when we are running on battery power (inverter). Also I suspect the power to the sleep number bed is disconnected because I am getting a communication, check the power message but I cannot figure out where to access the bed power. I would really appreciate any hints and tips more seasoned campers can share. Thanks.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! Many devices with digital controls will not operate properly on Modified Sine Wave (MSW) inverters. In fact, it can destroy the controls! I suspect this is your problem. I zapped the controls on our heated mattress pad that way!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Buy a 12v heating pad if you plan to use it often while dry camping. It's more efficient than powering from an inverter and thus will use less battery juice.

Please create a signature line with your model and year on it. Your heating pad will quickly burn out if your inverter is not a pure sine wave model. Tiffin started adding pure sine wave inverters to their Phaeton and Bus lines in 2010 (or maybe a little later). All the other models got modified sine wave inverters. And running anything on the inverter all night really comes down to how much battery storage power you actually have. So...

More information about your coach please.

On our bed if we pull up the head of the bed underneath can see all the hookups.
