"HELP" Where is the converter?
Hey Guys, I recently picked up a 35' 1998 Allegro Bus and 99% convinced I have a bad power convertor or it has a blown fuse on the front of it. My challenge is, I can't find the convertor anywhere. Yes I have remover the power distribution box under the Fridge and its not located behind it. I have looked all the places I can think of with no luck... I'm hoping someone has a similar set-up and knows where to find this unit. It is not charging the house batteries at all so I can't load it and listen for the fan or humming. I don't see any screen on any panels for ventilation also. PLEASE help and thanks...

I don't know for sure about that vintage Bus, but a most of the current models have the converter/inverter mounted in one of the basement compartments. Usually it is fairly close to the house batteries and may be mounted on the ceiling of the compartment near the frame rails.

I did look in all lower compartments BUT did not look the “ceilings of all lower units so I will tomorrow. The house batteries are very close to being positioned between the drivers and passenger front cabin seats in a compartment in the floor via a hinged door

Yep, you found it!
Your lucky (I think) - it’s been upgraded from what was likely originally shipped with the coach (which was probably an old linear unit that cooks batteries).
This should be the website to download the manual - https://www.progressivedyn.com/rv/po...er-converters/
Progressive Dynamics builds good stuff!
Why do you think it’s bad?

With power from the shore line or Gen, nothing charging the batteries. Previous owner replaced the batteries without properly diagnosing the issue.

Further diagnosing today shows the converter is producing power properly and providing 13.6 V to the 50 amp fuse before heading onward and thats where it stopped. Pulled the 2 pole 50 amp fuse, checked it with our ohm meter to determine it is indeed bad, 8$ at the auto parts for a replacement and we are back in service. Everything checked out inside.
This actually was a good learning curve for me to get familiar with how this all works.

Congrats and Thanks for reporting back!
As Neil Armstrong said “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” - your still in the middle of your “small step”.
But keep at it! Learning is fun!
