How to Replace Exterior Entry Light?

Hey guys...

Our black, eyebrow/halfmoon shaped entry light over the door has died.

I just ordered a replacement.

Has anyone ever replaced this light? It appears to be the same one as the patio light, so I'm thinking it has to be replaceable from the outside, rather than being thru-bolted and the hardware accessed from the inside.

If there's some screws visible from the outside then the lens can be removed. On my inside lights the lens cover can be squeezed or pinched enough to get the cover off. Just do a quick "Looksee" and it will or should become obvious.

I just checked my outside light and the cover easily comes off by pushing up on the bottom of the clear lens cover.

Definitely replaceable from the outside, I wonder why you are replacing the light itself (none of my business) and not replacing the bulb. When mine went out I replaced all of the outside lights with led's.

Just an FYI, I had "caulk" around the top of each light that I had to remove first and then was able to remove the bulb cover. They snap in place.

If you are replacing with a newer updated version, would sure like to see what you go with. I tried to find a nicer looking, newer version but was not successful. Can't remember exactly why, probably had something to do with the size or shape and covering the area that the current light had on the paint and surrounding area.

My amber colored lense has a hole in the top. Insert flat blade screwdriver and gently pry lense down and pops out. You will see a bulb number suggested. If you use a larger wattage bulb you will melt the lense. Ask me how I know. LOL
Also mine continually burns out. Next time I go LED.
