How to trigger Manual ReGen ISL9 Cummins
I have a 2018 Tiffin w/ Cummins ISL9 450 HP .
Can anyone share how to trigger a manual REGEN?
I've searched and the only thing i can find is the Cummins Insite software with the InLine 7 OBD adapter cable. Those are pretty pricy just for a test.
I've replaced the original Dosing valve 4377650. Now I'm getting an error 53494-5 Dosing valve below normal or open, Wanted to trigger a Regen to see if that would clear the warning
Can anyone share how to trigger this manually without spending $2k on the Cummins gear.

Best to get a reader like OTC to find out if you need a regen. Yes not cheap, but they can clear codes, read soot levels,( if soot is level is high) then do a regen, plus many, many other functions. Stan

As far as I know you can’t trigger one without the Cummins Insite software or go to a Cummins authorized dealer. A dealer might be cheaper than buying the Insite.

Hey Devoir, sorry you’re having trouble but here’s my opinion. I assume you meant to type that your current code is SPN 5394 FMI 5 which is a “Doser Current Below Normal or Ooen Circuit”. You say that you have replaced the Doser Pump but you didn’t say why you had to replace it but the code you’re getting indicates a possible open circuit/bad connection between the ECM and the new doser OR a defective new doser pump OR (and this is my bet) it may simply be that the original code hasn’t been cleared by the on-board diagnostics yet from the original Doser pump failure.
At any rate however it is not something that running a regen is going to fix. You may be able to force the code to reset with the right code scanner or just take it to a shop that has an Insite system and have them clear the code.
If you have an account at Cummins QSOL it gives the procedure for running the diagnostics to clear the code. One easy thing you can do is start the engine, let it idle for 5 minutes, turn it off then turn the key back to ON (DON'T start the engine) and wait 1 minute.
If that doesn’t work you could try starting engine, run 5 minutes and turn it off then repeat two more times (same procedure as clearing the defective DEF Sensor codes).

Harbor Freight had one a while back that could initiate the Regen's

I don't think you have to have a subscription.

They will deal on the subscription. I won't say what I am paying and I have it in writing. If it works as stated worth a lot for piece of mind.

Archer2 many thanks for your input. Yes I pulled the exhaust had the DPF "baked" and replaced all sensors or instruments on on the exhaust. The Doser was specifically replaced due to the dosing error. I had hopped triggering a regen would have forced the unit to cycle pumping ammonia thru the unit.
I have a BlueFire OBD unit that pushes a reset to the engine. It reads the codes I've been sharing. It doesn't seem to clear these codes.
To test this hoping to eliminate a wiring or connection issue. : I disconnected the new unit and plugged in the old unit. Cranked the engine ran at Hi Idle for 10 minutes with the old unit same codes no reset eliminated the code. Then disconnected the old unit, swapped the connector to the new unit. Cranked the engine a 2nd time same codes appeared.
I'm heading to Phoenix NIRVC in two weeks. I know they have the Cummins InSite tool ..we're heading there for other service work
I don't have a Cummins QSOL account However thanks for sharing the procedure for running the diagnostics to clear the code. I will try that tomorrow.

Cummins quick serve is free and only require registration with serial number. Very worthwhile and lots of information tailored to your specific engine. Sometimes it can be a PITA to log in if not used regularly.
I was unable to clear codes no matter what I tried, it took Cummins insite to do it

Aren't we all looking for free. Reader will still read codes but will not be able to do forced regens and some other functions that I have already forgot according to Manufacturer OTR.

Hi Devoir. It’s not unusual to not be able to clear certain emissions-related codes with any kind “consumer” scan tool. This is due to EPA requirements and is not due to any actual engine-related needs.
Note that, when you are using the instructions outlined in QSOL for running system diagnostics, you need to follow the instructions pretty exactly. For instance, if the instructions say to start and run the engine for 5 minutes, shut it down and then repeat 2 more times and you only allow it to run for 4 1/2 minutes one of the times, the diagnostic may fail to complete. If you turn the key on then off then back on once in the middle before starting, the diagnostic may fail to complete, etc. Also note that when QSOL says to do X number of “Drive Cycles” that a “Drive Cycle” is a specific profile of starts, stops, times at specified speeds, etc. It’s not just taking the coach out for a normal drive.
Your best bet is to take it to a Cummins certified shop with the factory Insite tool.
Good Luck!

There are a dozen handheld scanners that will initiate a regen. Just make sure your engine is listed on the particular tool.
