2009 Allegro Bus, Curb side front slide, at the rear of this slide, the bottom moves out but the top does not move. I believe this is called an X slide with chains Repair shop wants to remove the whole rear side assembly to get a part number for the whole assembly so they can place an order to HWH, making jacks and other slides inoperable until part arrives. I am having a hard time understanding why the whole assembly has to be replaced. Has anyone else had this problem and give me some guidance? I seem to remember reading somewhere that there are nylon parts that can be ordered to repair rather than replace whole assembly. Sent an email to HWH but no answers or suggestions. Trip to Moscow Iowa is out of the question.

az, did you look at the top of the slide? is the mechanism attached at that corner of the room. unless the x arm has come apart, it shoulod move the top. if it will move at all, find what is holding it. the way that mechanism is designed, if the bottom moves, unless the center if it has come apart, it should move.

There are parts listings on the HWH web site for Tiffin coaches. That may help you identify the individual part numbers. Sounds like your repair facility isn’t diagnosing the issue, simply throwing parts at it. Can you get a second opinion somewhere else?

isnt that the part number for the synchronizing cylinder for that room. that is what i come up with. did you get that number out of the info provided in your owners packet, or off the mechanism its self?
you have a uso mechanism with chains at the top and bottom. correct?
its called a uso mechanism.
i believe you have a pivot in the center of the mechanism that has broken. feel around at the bottom of the mechanism with a magnet. you will probably find a couple of 1/4 inch diameter pins laying down there. if you do, you need to replace that part, which is less than 100 dollars.
