Hydraulic slide question
I have a 2015 32Sa. We were at a campground for 3 months. We packed up to leave the hyd slide didn't want to go in. I pushed the retract button, it made a quick noise and then stopped. I repressed the button a few times and nothing. Then I turned the key off/on and even started the motor once. Still nothing. The jacks were still down, so I figured I would raise the jacks to get some fluid moving and go from there. I raised the jacks, then went to to the slide and it worked! Maybe I was right and the fluid just needed to move after sitting for 3 months.
Now that I am home, is there anything I should look at, just in case? Or was this just a fluke glitch in the hyd system?

I read on another forum where you can remove some of the existing hydraulic fluid and replace with an additive that helps situations like this.

What you are describing are classic solenoid relay problems. It's very common for them to have burned/corroded contacts. Sometimes just cycling the ignition two or three times gets them to make contact. When it does that, just check the voltages on the main (left) solenoid to see if it's passing power. Here's a troubleshooting document on the HWH system I put together.

Thanks Lt Dan. I'll print that and throw it in the RV file.
I would think in a pinch, you could make a jumper for the solenoid. Or do like I used to on my '59 Ford, jump across the poles with a screwdriver. LOL

I just replaced the solenoid on my 2016 32SA. The first thing I noticed is the slide moves faster. It does not struggle anymore.

When we purchased our 2014 Allegro Bus the original owner gave us one of those jumpers. They stated Tiffin told them this was the solution for a non-operational solenoid relay. I used it quite a few times before I replaced the relay. Now I just carry a spare master solenoid.
If you use it, you just touch the terminal a few seconds to get the pump running. Sometimes it took a few times, but ultimately it did always work.

Lt Dan .... love reading concise comments ... great help.

you mention main left solenoid.
I am pretty ignorant on how the slide / jack hydraulics work, actually going to drop in at Stuart's in Elkhart in August to see if can pick up some info.
In the photo attached of my hydraulic bay, is the left solenoid that you mention, the one on left above the pump? What do the 2 front ones do & what do the rear ones do ?
Thank you

Where did you pick up the Solenoid? Maybe I should get one as this might of been a sign that its getting bad.

Type the part # from LT. Dan in a search engine. Multiple outlets. I picked up a spare.

FYI, your arrows are pointing at the solenoids, not the solenoid RELAYS.
The relays control the electricity to the pump. The solenoids control the hydraulic fluid to the pistons (jacks, etc.).
The relays are to the left & right of the pump with the big wires connected to them.
I got my relays from:
https://www.lvelectronics.com/#
They ship fast, great customer support, and cheaper than Amazon.

White flipper valves:
The 2 flip valves over the motor is the retract solenoids for the Hydraulic slide outs.
*
On the backside over the tank, they are 2 flip valves below 4 flip valves that are the extend solenoids for the hydraulic slide outs.
The 4 flip valves on top are for the jacks Retract

This visual might help as solenoids are relays, but not in so far as HWH describes them.
Think of it this way when it comes to HWH:
Electric switching to your pump are the domain of the relays.
And electric switching of your "solenoids" allow for hydraulic fluid to pass.
Here's a 2 and 3 pump relay diagram and HWH side view of where the hydraulic solenoid are located. Notice the slides have the retract solenoids on once side of the manifold and retract on the other side. Plus your 4 jack solenoids are larger in size to help you know which is witch, and the jack solenoids are on top.
