Is a noisy V10 normal in 2003 M30DA?

This is my first posting. I am looking at buying a used class A. I tried out a 2007 Hurricane today with a V10. It was very quiet. I also tried a 2003 Allegro M30DA, which we really liked but we noticed much more engine noise. Is this normal for the Allegra and is there a way to put better insulation to quiet it down? Thanks for any help. Dale.

I see your not getting a whole lot in the way of replies.
First thing to look at would be to make sure the engine cover is properly installed , with all seals in good shape.
Brother-in-laws Tiffin, Allegro 05 on a Workhorse chassis , you couldn't hear any objectionable noise till pulling a hill under full load. From that , I take it Tiffin knows how to insulate the floor and cover.

When crusing down the freeway my 99 Dolphin is fairly quiet, can carry on a converation using normal volume. Pretty noisy when climbing a hill. Make sure the sound insulation is in place on the underside of dog house cover.

Depends on what noise your are speaking to. The Ford V10 is a high RPM engine, and as such when under load and it downshift it will be heard. If you are speaking to noisiest idle or low speed it should not be objectionable. A worn serpentine belt or idler pulley will be noticed at idle.

In our Allegro one of the first things we noticed was the noise. I pulled the carpet up and nothing but plywood was under it. I had a local company install laminent where the carpet used to be and also to install a sound and moisture barrier under the laminent. For the dog house they installed the sound and moisture barrier under new upgraded carpet. The carpet I took out, I would compare to a cheap toilet seat cover type of material. Now it is much quieter and enjoyable, plus the laminent is much easier to take care of than carpet. My wife and are are very happy with this arrangement.
On Edit: Also I installed the 5-Star Tune and that quited things down even more.

My V10 Pace Arrow was bad when climbing hills. As the other poster said the V10 is a high rpm engine. I went to a Summit and bought hood liner material. I did the firewall and under the floor with the stick on sound suppressor. I also redid the engine cover with soft material. We can now carry on a normal conversation while pulling step inclines.
