Is this a wifi?

We're going to look at a 2018 Phaeton 40IH tomorrow. I had the dealer send me some pics of critical things I wanted to see. This is on the roof. It appears to be a wifi. It isn't listed on the options sheet from the factory.

It looks like WINEGARD CONNECT is stamped on it....can't really see for sure.

What does it do?

Yes, that is a Winegard WiFi antenna. It also can connect to their non WiFi internet service.
I installed just the WIFi repeater one in my rig. There will be a repeater inside with the name and access codes on it. You may have to call Winegard to find out how to reset it or download the manuals from their website.

Thanks, Deen. I Google'd that name & found the website:
Winegard ConnecT RV Internet — winegard.com

I've heard of WiFiRanger (I think they're a Sponsor here). So this is something like that, right?

Thanks, Dan. It passed a L2 NRVIA inspection (more than I can say of the last one we looked at/had inspected).

Lori:

Essentially, this is a competitor to WiFiRanger. One drawback IMO to this particular system is that the only LTE SIM it can use is tied to data packages sold by Winegard. In other words, you have to buy data from Winegard; you can't use your Verizon or AT&T SIM. The Connect II has replaceable SIMs; this one doesn't. Of course, you don't have to use the LTE portion of it at all; just stick to using the wifi.

I have a 2019 40ih with the Weingard connect. It is basically a WiFi repeater. The Antena is on the roof, and the router is in the front PS cabinet.
You sign into the router and scan for WiFi. Select the WiFi and save the sign in to the weingard. The weingard connects, and re-broadcasts throughout your coach.

Lori

That is the Winegard ConnecT original version. Two years ago they came out with the ConnecT2 (dome shaped), but some are still using the original. It is WiFi/4G, but the 4G is only using their data plan, very expensive. It was 110V and you could hard wire a router to it, and it was very expensive to purchase. The version 2, was a 12V dome and no hard wire capabilities/ But you could use, their data, or use your own sim card from either ATT or Verizion. Plus it retailed for only about $329, about 1/3 of the price. I have the version 2 and have had no issues.

Found it connected right where you all said it would be - PS upper dash cabinet.
The manual was there with stuff written in pencil on it. Probably password &/or wifi name?

So, unless I want to spend the money for the data, I can just use it as a wifi booster, correct?

That is correct, it also has built in WiFi. If you don't want to use the Winegard data plan, you can still connect to your own hot spot with the WiFi.

I recently bought the 2.0 Dome Version, with the Verizon Sim Card (15 Gb/mo). Booster works great, solid WiFi signal. Haven’t turned on Sim Card yet cause not needed... Happy ;-)
