July Newsletter

I saw this photo in the new newsletter I just rec'd. First thing I thought was, did they NOT learn anything from when they put the hard backed dinette back that stuck out past the wall up against the fridge (as it was in my Phaeton)? I could not open that left door far enough for me to get out the ice bin to clean it. I was told I could "carefully/gently" twist & pull on the bin to get it out, but I was more afraid of cracking/breaking it. So I ended up shutting off the icemaker & never used it.

In later models, Tiffin moved the pantry from the right side to the left side of the fridge, which allowed more space for that left door to open more.

Now they go & have that counter jutting out that seems to me will, again, stop the door from opening completely. I can also see that being a really sweet way to put a dent in that nice stainless steel door unless you put one of those baby corner bumper guards on it.

On the positive side, I DO like the light cabinets. Much brighter inside.

It looks like the counter has a recess to accommodate the door opening. I like the light cabinets as well.

I zoomed in on my original pic I took of the newsletter. There isn't a recess. The cream wall trim comes to the end of the cabinet & the countertop juts out past that. There may be some accommodation that trim piece provides, but it still appears to me the door won't fully open & will get dinged by that counter top corner.

So this isn't enough clearance to open the door?

Thanks for the extreme close up. I can see from that photo it "might" be. The back of my dinette was smack against that wall (where that backsplash piece is in the Tiffin photo) and jutted out past the trim a good 10"+ or so (you can see it in the photo below), so that was my issue. Appears there's an extra 1"-1.5" on the cut angle of the countertop. It may be enough.

Although I still can see getting dents in the door from that counter corner if one doesn't hold onto that door when opening it.

The corners of the first pic are 90degree; the 2nd pic has a 45degree cut not present in the first...at least to my lying eyes.
And either way, sure looks like a good chance for a dent in the door to match the corner.

It looks like that angled cut might give enough clearance for the door. I have the table and workstation so there's no obstruction and the door still only opens to about 45 degrees.
