Looking for replacement tires for Allegro 30DA

We have a 2006 Allegro 30DA and need to replace all six of the orignial Goodyear G670RV 245/70 19.5. I did some calling around several tire stores and found the best price for putting on six Goodyears will cost me $3,706 out the door here in upstate NY. That is a pretty high price and wasn't expecting that high of a figure for a replacement cost. I am currently looking at Continental HFR-1 truck tires that have an out the door price of $2,700. Has anyone used the Continental tires as a replacement? I am open to considering all recommendations on a good tire for repalcing the Goodyears. I have been told that a truck tire will have more road noise than the RV spec tire. Not sure if this is true. I was also told about force balancing where they shave the tire if it is out of round, anyone ever had that type of balancing done? Thanks, John

My vote is for an RV type tire. A lot of MH's handle weird depending on the tires. You read all kinds of threads talking about adverse handling, the Goodyears were good so bite the bullet. Is this RV a keeper or is it going bye,bye soon? I have Toyo's on my old dog and I love them.

It's a pity you aren't out west in Les Schwab territory. We have one of their franchises in town. When we bought our '02 in '09, we found the tires were the original '01 chassis OEM tires.

We went to Schwab and found they had Toyos in the right sizes (also 19.5s). They quoted me $2300 out the door for six new tires, with balancing and new SS stems. Without me even asking, the store manager checked the inventory computer to find the latest manufacturing dates in stock. He got six tires that were only 6 weeks old!

Since I was a regular customer and local resident, he threw in a front end alignment for $30!

We've done business with the Schwab franchises for about 30 years and have never had any complaints about their service. Free flat fixes, even if you didn't buy the tires from them. 2 year guarantee on brake work (full replacement, not proportional).

A definite recommendation from me - shame you're so far away from them.Maybe you could find a similarly customer oriented dealer where you live. What you were quoted would brign tears to my eyes!

Hankook Works for me

I had the original MichelinXRV's on my 2004, 32BA. Was quoted $3,000 to replace so went with the tire dealer's recommendation of Hankook AH11's for $2050 out the door with spin balancing. Are they as good as the MIchelin's? Definitely not as quiet but sufficient since we are working folks and only get away locally for weekends. Shopped around to get the best price and ended up at a truck tire dealer. Town Fair tire offered to beat the price but I don't think they really could have balanced them.
